Pool Leagues Forming-Happy Hour Expanded

tap_room_logoBased on last years success with our in house pool league, we have decided to do some more in house pool leagues.  2 Person Teams, $5 per week per person gets you a free drink and the rest goes towards the year end prizes.  So go find that partner or that person you have always tried to get out at night.  Click on the link and get more details on these fun events that start the first week of November.

Plenty of Golf Tournaments to Go

We have plenty of events to play in at Waverly Golf and Legend Trail Golf.  So for those of you that want to continue playing until the snow flies, we will have plenty of opportunity for you to do that.  Some events you may have to dress up a little warmer than in other events.  But the way the weather has been this year, you never know it may be 80 degrees on those days.  Here is a list of events.  You may look under the calendar to see the brochure for that event.

Sunday, October 10th – Waverly Golf Course – 4 Person Best Shot, call Waverly for your tee time.

Sunday, October 11th – Legend Trail Golf – First ever Club Championship, open to all Legend Trail and All Golf Center season ticket holders, call Legend Trail or sign up by the tournament calendar.

Saturday, October 17th – Legend Trail Golf – 3 Person Best Shot – 10 am shotgun start, call Legend for your grouping.

Sunday, October 18th – Waverly Golf Course – ever popular Red Tee Open, receive percentage of your handicap and play your own ball.

Sunday, October 25th – Waverly Golf & Country Club Chili Open – sign up in the upstairs bar for your grouping.

Sunday, October 31st – Legend Trail Golf – Halloween 4 Person Best Shot, 10 am shotgun, call the Legend Trial shop to sign up.

We will also have some November Best Shots, depending on the weather and whether we are open or not.  So call either Pro Shop to sign up for the respective event or events.

Krusey

Chuck Krusey, playing early Sunday morning with Shawn Krusey and Brett Kleespies, made a hole in one on the 7th hole.  Good thing it wasn’t foggy like the past couple of days as he was able to see his wonderful shot plunk right in the hole.  Congrats to Chuck and good playing.

Legend Trail Invitational

picture1The First Annual Legend Trail Invitational was held on Sunday, September 13.  We had 26 golfers attempt to play this first annual event.  They played quick and learned the course as they played–as many of them had never played The Trail.  John Kofoot, our superintendent, had the greens in superb shape.

Bo Blake added to his many past titles, to win this event in a fine even par round of 72.  He was followed by Dave Grawe with a hard fought round of 73.  Jerry Hennings finished 3rd with a 73, in spite of making 6 birdies.  Bo, in is usually understated commentary, said this just adds to his other “major titles”.  Thanks Bo for adding us to your list of accomplishments.

We look forward to adding more players to this fun tournament in 2010.

1st Annual Legend Trail Invitational

The first annual Legend Trail Invitational picture1will be held on Sunday, September 13th.  It will be an 18 hole, flighted event.  Call the pro shop, 319-346-1499 to sign up now.  Tee times from 10 am to noon.  We look forward to expanding this to a two day event in 2010.  However we must start somewhere and will do an 18 hole, play your own ball, stroke play event.  All abilities are welcome and encouraged to play.  You DO NOT need to be Legend Trail Member to play in this.  This is an open to the public event.

Men’s League Finished

September 1, 2009

The first year of Men’s League has finished with our Champions being Marc Reifenrath and Aaron Thomas.  They carried steady play throughout the year to finish first by only 10 points over Josh Peters and Todd Benson.  Our final league night was postponed due to the heavy rains a couple of weeks ago.

All scores had to be posted by August 31st with the final results being as follows…Team Points for Year-2009  We thank the teams that participated in this First year of competition.  We look forward to filling up the whole golf course in 2010 with over 60 golfers each and every week.

We will have a cook your own steak this Thursday, September 3rd, so call the pro shop to sign up for this.  Also Virgil Goodrich is organizing a Thursday night tournament based on the league standings and handicap.  So let him know if you wish to participate in that tournament on Thursday.  

The season is not over for those of you that wish to continue playing on Thursday’s so please continue to play.
