Schuch, Mase on radio, Junior Lessons, Memorial Tourney
May 25, 2010
A busy week so don’t miss out on anything. Mike Schuchmann and Greg Mason will join the Sports Guy, Gary Rima, on Wednesday, May 26th on KXEL 1540 ONPRESSROW from 5 pm to 6 pm. Feel free to call in and ask a question. We are ready for about anything other than how do I hit it straight?
Junior golf lessons are available at both Waverly Golf and Legend Trail Golf, click on the Lessons tab at the top and find the Junior Lesson program that suites your junior golfer.
Still have openings for Monday’s Golf Tournament at Legend Trail. 9 am shotgun start, not 10 am shotgun, so call the shop at 319-346-1499 to sign up. You have to play the course to see the improvement that John Kofoot and his staff have given us from one year ago. It is a dynamite place. I will tell you that our greens are the best set of greens I have played in 2010, period. That is a lot of pressure on John but I have played The Harvestor, TPC at Deere Run and just played Glen Oaks. We are that good. You can and will make a putt, unless your stroke is that bad.
See you at one of our courses.
Legend Trail Couples event-Ladies Day begins Tuesday
May 23, 2010
Legend Trail Golf hosted the first Friday Couples Night, May 21st. We had 17 willing couples play in this first event. Then they stuck around had supper, laughed, giggled and then threatened Greg with the fact that there will be more couples–bring it on. Based on the fun these 17 couples had we will welcome all comers. We set these events up as fun, competitions for you and your loved one. Here are the results..Couples Results-5-20-10
Ladies Day begins this Tuesday the 25th. 2 gal Best Shot, you choose your partner and pairings. Cost is $2 per person for the golf event. Even if you do not play golf come on out and play some cards. We will begin serving food about 7 pm. This week we will have a buffet of wings, cheddar nuggets, chips/salsa, relish tray and whatever else Greg can come up with. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A SEASON TICKET HOLDER to participate. Come on out, we just want your body. So come get away from your family for the night and as one lady put so delicately, come talk about your husbands. Jerry and I are married and do not listen anyway, right?
Waverly Hosted two 20 hole tournaments
May 23, 2010
Waverly Golf Course hosted two 20 hole golf tournaments over the past couple of weekends. We had 22 open and 6 couple teams play last Sunday. We had 4 couples and 13 open players play yesterday. Everyone seemed to enjoy the extra holes and the chance to make two more birdies, though they all did not do that. Thanks for playing and experiencing this once in a lifetime opportunity at the Waverly Golf Course.
Todd Thomas sets course record at Legend Trail
May 21, 2010
He didn’t know he had it him but when he tapped in a one foot putt on the 18th hole, but he did. Todd Thomas shot 68 (4 under par) from our white tees at Legend Trail Golf. Todd played his record round on Tuesday, May 18th. Todd’s nine were 32-36=68. His round of 32 ties Louie Cox for the nine hole record at Legend Trail. However, his round of 68 beat Coach McDermott’s record of 70 (2 under par). Congrats Todd and nice playing.
Waverly Golf Course opens new golf holes
May 16, 2010
We had a nice ribbon cutting on Thursday, May 13th, in spite of the weather. It was well attended with nearly 40 people attending this event. We had a few people play the two holes. Paul Miller, the architect of the new holes, hit the ceremonial first shot with Doug Snook hitting the second shot. Paul hit his shot to the area he designed PERFECTLY as the bail out area. Snooky hit a one of his perfect power fades over the flag but a little long. We are excited about the new holes and we know that you will enjoy Paul’s creation.

Waverly Hosts Exchange Club Golf Outing, Ott just misses hole in one
May 2, 2010
The Waverly Golf Course played host to 132 players on Saturday, May 1st. The 17th Annual Exchange Club for Child Abuse raised over $10,000 for their cause. The players were treated to a great day of golf, good food and a record number of players, prizes and sponsorships. Jerry and Brad Roling of Jerry Roling Motors were the sponsors of the Hole in One and would have loved to give that car away. And they almost did thanks to Andy Ott who was less than 10 inches from winning that brand new car by making a hole in one. Thanks to all that participated in the day, gave sponsorships or volunteered their time.
