Thomas versus Woodley in Mean 18 at Legend Trail
July 31, 2010
Well Mark Woodley is at it again. The KWWL Sports dude took on Aaron Thomas in the Mean 18 segment on Saturday at Legend Trail Golf. They played the full yardage on the Par 5 9th hole at Legend Trail. There was much on the line as both men came with hardware to exchange for the winner of the match. Tune in to KWWL-TV on Sunday the 1st, yes the 1st of August, for the taping and results of these two former Spartan and Falcon Basketball players. It was a blast, thanks to Aaron and Mark for their time.
Your PGA Pro made an OOPS!!!
July 29, 2010
Well Mase decided the best time to entertain the troops was during Men’s League on Wednesday Night at Waverly Golf Course. Jim Trask’s partner, Ricky Burks needed a sub, as he had to work, so Jim asked Mase to be his partner. Their opponents were Andy Ott and Steve Walker (who thinks I am the Rules Chairperson for the PGA Tour, sorry Walk). So on their 6th hole, after Andy and Steve hit it to 20 feet and 8 feet, on the downhill, 154 yard par 3, Mase hit a 9 iron 3 feet dead pin high to the right of the hole, then the ball jumped forward, and as Bo Blake has only dreamed of his whole life, the ball spun back into the hole for a Hole In One. Greg’s partner then proceeded to hit his shot to 15 feet, and with his handicap stroke made a 2 for a net, yes NET, 1 to tie Mase for low skin on that hole in league. Though I am sure someone made a 3 for a 1, so don’t feel toooooo bad Traskie. Thanks for the invite, it was fun.
Yes it did cost some money and NO you had to be there on Wednesday for your FREE drink so don’t ask (except Betty Meyer). Serves you right for leaving tooo soon on a Men’s Night at the Waverly Golf Course, stick around you may have some fun.
So in the interest of the few questions you will ask—1. it is my second hole in one, 2. my first one was at Irv Warren on the second hole in 1983, 3. It was a good shot, did not skull or shank the sucker in, 4. No I was not in the Hole in one insurance and it did cost me and I will gladly pay each time because it took 27 years to get my second and the Shoe is working on #13 if he would ever play, 5. Shot 31, 3 under, eagled the first hole, the hole in one and then bogeyed our ninth hole. 6. Thanks Walk for lagging your putt so you would not tie my skin, teach Traskie that move would you!?!?
Remember, like a great comedian telling a good joke it is all in the ………………………………………………..TIMING!!!
New Pictures of Legend Trail Hope You Enjoy

Here are some pictures of Legend Trail’s Clubhouse, driving range and holes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 9. They were sent to me today and I am sure most of you will enjoy. Some great shadows on the course and shows the contrast of colors on the “bottom” holes. Hopefully we can get some more fly-overs from this gentleman. They are pretty neat. ENJOY!!!
Looking West towards Parkersburg, clubhouse, 9 green, 1 tee and the driving range.
Looking West to town. Wonderful lighting.
Looking towards the North, 9 green, 1st hole, 2nd hole, 3rd hole and 4th hole. WOW!!!

Mason helps team defend its Orrhouse Open Team Title
July 18, 2010
Mase was able to help his team defend its Orrhouse Open Pro-Am title at Timberline Golf Course in Peosta, Iowa on Sunday. The team made a late charge to get to 8 under par by doubling up on birdies on two straight holes and get Mase into a playoff where he won on the first playoff hole with a par over the runner-up’s professional, Kevin Flanigan of St. Andrews Golf Course in Cedar Rapids. Iowa. This was the 15th Annual event named after “The Coach”, Johnny Orr (Orrhouse Open), where 5 person teams play a fun, varied format. The C/D players play best shot, the A/B players play 1 best ball (low score) and the pro plays his own ball. They then count the low two balls of the event. It really helps get rid of the “sandbaggers”. One of the most fair events we professionals play in. Thanks to Dick Specht, Mike Fagerlind and their staff for hosting a great event.
Kuethe wins Waverly Men’s City, Bowers defends senior title
July 18, 2010
What a fun day at the Waverly Golf Course on Saturday. Tim “Bones” Kuethe decided to stay in the Open division and defend the “over 50″ crowd in the Open Division. He had to go overtime to win the event over the “under 50″ contender Ryan Keller. Tim made a 15 foot putt on hole #9 in regulation as Ryan hit it to two feet on that hole to make birdie. The two were tied and went to overtime where Bones won on the first playoff hole. This makes it the past four years where the title has gone to someone over the age of 50. Unfortunately Ryan has been the runner up in three of those years. There was some fine golf played over the par 70 golf course.
Fred Bowers defended his 2009 title in the Senior Division over past champion Chuck Sipple. Fred relied on steady play as the top 3 players from the senior division all played in the same group. Congrats Fred.
Here on are the results. Redeem your gift certificates from the Waverly Pro Shop.
Final Results for 2010 Waverly Invite
July 12, 2010
Here are the final results for the 2010 Waverly Invite. Joe Urbanek followed a fine round of 68, tied for the lead after round 1 and came back with an outstanding round of 67 to win the annual event. We appreciate all those great comments that you golfers gave us. Snooker and his crew did a fine job getting the course in shape after all the rains we have had in the past three weeks. The two new holes certainly played into the event as many scores were either good or…well bad. See you next year on July 9 and 10, 2011.
Urbanek wins Waverly Invite
July 11, 2010
Joe Urbanek wins the Waverly Invite in a fine score of 135 (68-67) 5 under par. A great round of golf as Joe overcomes his own challengers of his dad, Mark and Scott Morgensen to shoot a fine round through the early rains. We will give the results of this tournament in the next couple hours as Greg is having technical difficulties to put results in. Stay tuned for the results.
SORRY but will fix
Waverly Invite has fun first day
July 11, 2010
What a fun first day at the Waverly Invitational. Players were treated to perfect weather conditions though the wind did pick up in the afternoon. We are still all wondering of Bo will ever get back into the Championship Flight? Though I am not a betting man, don’t bet against him getting in there someday. Though he will have some trouble beating Ed Droste as Ed shot 81 to better his age……..again. Great playing Ed.
Kristian Einswieler and Joe Urbanek lead after round one with fine rounds of 68. Defending champion Josh Black is lurking as it took 73 to get into the Championship Flight. Here are the results after round 1 and which flight you are in. We wish you luck and hope the weather holds for tomorrow round.
See you Sunday and remember that no matter how the course is set up you still must make a putt at sometime.
