We have not closed the doors on the golf season yet at any of our three facilties. At Waverly Golf we have a 4 Person Best Shot on Saturday, October 9. Tee times from 10 to noon. Cost is $20 per person plus greens fee & cart ($24 per person). Our ever popular Red Tee Open will be held at Waverly on Sunday, October 17th with an 11 am shotgun. Here you receive 80% of your handicap and play your own golf ball from our most forward tees. Something you have always wanted to do just never had the guts to do it. Same cost for this event.
At Legend Trail we will two 4 Person Best Shot events. On Saturday, October 16th we will have a two cup best shot. This will allow you to play two different courses in one. Play to a different hole on each nine. On Saturday, October 30th we will have a 4 Person Best Shot using the 8 inch cup. Cost is $20 per person plus greens fee and cart ($24). If you are a season ticket holder at Waverly Golf, All Golf Center or Legend Trail you will have your greens fee waived at the Legend Trail events.
So call the respective shops and sign up now for these fun events. Be careful to sign up for the correct event at the correct course.
P.S. With not many trees at Legend Trail you don’t have to fight the leaves. We are also extending our weekday special of $25 per person to 7 days aweek ANYTIME!!! beginning October 1st
G3 Golf hosts many golf events for charity

G3 Golf and its three facilities has had a fun three weeks in hosting many fun-filled events. Some are just events for the masses and others have been great events for great causes. The All Golf Center hosted the Special Olympics event for the Cedar Valley area. We had over 60 Special Olympians and their sponsors play on Friday, September 10th in an alternate shot format. They came from as far away as Dubuque to play in this 9 hole event. The Special Olympics staff plays host to over 100 sports and golf is just one of them. Mase has been apart of this with his friend Kathy since 1994 at Airport National Golf. Kathy is the best, I mean the best, staff member of Special Olympics. Her dedication to their improvement is only matched by the enthusiasm of the athletes. If you do not like to be hugged, stay away, but from personal experience, YOU CAN’T.
We hosted the 1st Annual JDRF Event hosted by the McDaniel family at Legend Trail on Saturday, September, 18th. We had 48 golfers in this first ever event. They helped to raise over $2,000 towards the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. We thank all that participated as some traveled as far as Wisconsin to play. We even had the Head Basketball and Golf Coach of Mt. Mercy College, Paul Gavin, play in this first annual event. Can’t wait for Gene and his family to get this to 72 players or a double shotgun in 2011.
We had the 5th Annual Brook Walton Memorial Golf Tournament at Waverly on Sunday, September 19th. The 60 plus golfers braved the cold and rain to help raise funds for the Dollars for Scholars Fund in Waverly in memory of Brook Walton. Brook was taken from us and would have celebrated her 24th birthday on the 19th. Happy Birthday Brook.
We thank all the golfers and sponsors that have helped us in these tournaments. We had many more great causes throughout the year, but wish to hilite these events as they are were played in the last 14 or so days. If you were not a part of them in 2010, please consider them in 2011 as I am sure they will be a part of our calendar.
Legend Trail host Mid Iowa over 50 Men

Legend Trail hosted the Mid Iowa over 50 Mens Association on Monday, September 13th. The 124 golfers played in two shotguns with each shotgun holding its own tournament. Chad Campbell sweeps the two MAJORS at Legend Trail

Chad Campbell won the Legend Trail Invitational today after winning the Legend Trail Club Championship. That allowed Chad to sweep our two most prestigious events in 2010. Congrats to Chad. Chad overcame the wind, dry and fast conditions that Legend Trail offered today. The score was irrelevant as the conditions dictated one to continue to grind on the golf course. Chad beat three Waverly residents, Tim Kuethe (the current Waverly City Champ), Mike Johnson and Jerry Hennings, by one stroke to win his first Legend Trail Invite title.
Thanks to all that competed in our 2nd Annual Event. They were treated to great greens by our Golf Course Superintendent, John Kofoot (along with Alex and Shawn this summer). If you read the putt correctly, you made the putt.
Also thanks to our guest beer cart ladies, Barb Corson and Tina Bonorden. They may have found their second calling in life.
