Fall Golf is still happening in Iowa as we avoid SNOW, speed of play helps

Golf in Iowa is still happening. ”Fly over country” served us well as the 12+ inches of snow that hit Colorado jumped over us like Edwin Moses and landed in the Northeast. So get out in the next week or so, mid 50′s, dress for the conditions and have some fun because pretty soon the SNOW WILL NOT SKIP US. For those golfers that are worried about slow play, please read the following or hit on the picture that was sent to me. Should we put on the first tee? Remember though that many of you started from the beginning also and must have patience with those that are just beginning. See you at the course and if someone is faster than you, just pull over and let them through. Those that are following and don’t have the courtesy to ask to play through and just “LAY ON THAT HORN”, please ask….it is a gentleperson’s AND social game for goodness sake.

That’s right Happy Hour Prices during all UNI, U of Iowa and Iowa State televised football games at Legend Trail Golf. Plus I bet that if you ask Jay or Terri nicely they will serve you wings until 1:30 pm and then from 5 pm to 8 pm. Remember that we have some great deals during the week as we have Jay’s drink specials PLUS our Happy Hour Specials each day as the FREE goodies are BACk BAYYYBEEE. Thanks to the Iowa Section of the PGA for allowing me to serve the past 2 years as their President. It was great being the head coach of the #1 Section in the PGA of America. The President of the PGA of America, Allen Wronowksi, was there 2 days, speaking to our membership and sponsors. We appreciate his passion to grow our great game and spearhead the NEW Golf 2.0 plan. Plus he stuck around and took pictures with the Junior Golfers we honored today. We just completed our Fall Meetings and Annual Awards Banquet sponsored by Dave Brostrom of All Star Pro Golf. That is right FREE goodies are back, Monday-Thursday during our Legendary Happy Hour, 3 pm to 6 pm everyday. Golf has slowed but you may still want to stop by Legend Trail and have an adult beverage and some FREE goodies. So call a friend, call your spouse and meet after work in our fun, pleasant bar. FREE POOL at The Tap Room at Legend Trail Golf kicking into Winter Hours

The Tap Room at Legend Trail Golf is moving to winter hours. Grill hours are still Monday through Saturday 6 am to 1:30 pm and Friday and Saturday Nights from 5 pm to 8 pm. The Bar Hours are Monday-Thursday until 7 pm and Friday and Saturday until 9 pm. We still have Happy Hour everyday from 3 pm to 6 pm. FREE POOL Thursday, October 20th so stop on by, try the table and sign up for our Fall Pool League which starts November 3rd. Jay and Greg will be doing some Winter Drink Specials to encourage you to come on out and have a toddy before you go home. $2 Bud Light Pints tonight. See you everyday or when you can, we won’t tell.

I know it what cold out today, but there is still nice weather coming this week. Don’t WISH you would have played before it is 25 and snowing. But when the snow comes you can still play some POOL at Legend Trail. Our Fall League is accepting signups now. Thursday nights, open to the public, 2 person teams, 5:30 start time, $5.00 per week gets you pool and FREE drink. Here is the link for more info…LT Pool League poster-11. Watch the four Major golf winners square off against each other in gorgeous Bermuda beginning Tuesday, October 18th on TNT. No reason to not watch these talented golfers take on each other. It is a fun event to watch as the players are usually miked, our PGA President Allen Wronowski will speak (plus he comes to Iowa next week to address our Iowa Section PGA Members in our Fall Meeting) and look for Brad Gregory, former Head PGA Pro at Red Carpet Golf in Waterloo walking as the rules dude in this match. So don’t wait, watch, pull up for a drink at Legend Trail as I guarantee it will be on.
Waverly’s Host RED TEE OPEN as Dutch Whitney wins…

Dutch battled the weather and took advantage of a nice short game to shoot a nice net score of 64 to beat 5 others by one. The 49 golfers that played enjoyed the day in the 60 degree BUT WINDY conditions. Low gross was Scott Thorson. In the Beat the Pro portion, Mase shot 72. The Tap Room at Legend Trail will have the Hawks on TV this Saturday the 15th. Stop on out as we will be running our HAPPY HOUR Drink prices throughout the game. .50 cents off mixed drinks, $2 beers, $2.50 pints and $1.25 PBR, Old Mil and Old Mil Light. PLUS we will have $.75 wings during the game. So come one come all. Regular menu will also be available for you to eat.

Don’t forget to sign up and play in the 5th Annual Waverly Golf Course RED TEE OPEN. It is open to all players, if you have a USGA Handicap you are eligible to play, if you don’t have one, Mase will figure one out for you. Weather is 60 and sunny that day so why not play from those “DIFFICULT” forward tees. FYI, you still have to make a 3 footer whether you play from the 7500 yard tees or the 4500 yard tees. Regular flighted event PLUS and optional BEAT THE MASE portion of the event. Cost is $20 per person plus greens fee & cart. Might as well try it from there as you always thought you could break 70, or 80 or 90 from those forward tees if you “just had a chance”. Now is the chance. 11 am shotgun, call 319-352-1530 to sign up. Come from Parkersburg, Waverly, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Dike, Stout, where ever, we will take you. IT IS FUN!!!
